Environmental compliance

The RoHS 3, REACH and halogen-free certificates cover every TransSiP product. TSNJ and TSA1 parts are MSL 2a, and all others are MSL 1.

  • RoHS 3

Directive 2011/65/EU as amended by (EU) 2015/863. All ten restricted substances below their limits, including lead (1,000 ppm) and cadmium (100 ppm).

    Certificate (PDF)TSQA-RoHS3
  • REACH

No substance from the REACH Candidate List of Substances of Very High Concern above 0.1% by weight.

    Certificate (PDF)TSQA-REACH, February 2026
  • Halogen-free

IEC 61249-2-21: chlorine and bromine each below 900 ppm, and below 1,500 ppm combined.

    Certificate (PDF)TSQA-HF
  • Moisture sensitivity

MSL 2a for TSNJ series PI filters and TSA1 converters, dry-packed with desiccant and a humidity indicator card. MSL 1 for all other TransSiP products. Lead-free reflow per IPC/JEDEC J-STD-020.

Board-level reliability qualification

The qualification program covers the TSNJ series Harmony PI Filters and TSA1 DC-DC converters. Standard unmounted reflow simulation (J-STD-020 alone) cannot reproduce the thermomechanical stress on a soldered LGA with real copper heatsinking. The RTV program stresses the parts first, then mounts them, so it detects bond breakdown, shearing or delamination the way the field would.

10× stricter quality assurance

  • 0.1% LTPD, mission-critical reliability. Qualified on mounted boards, far beyond standard J-STD-020 unmounted tests.
  • Class-0, zero-defect equivalent. Zero failures across 2,880 board-mounted parts.
  • Assurance before mass production. Optical transceiver, telecom and automotive programs get mathematical assurance that lot-level failure risk during assembly is near zero.

Step 1: package prerequisites

Moisture sensitivity (MSL)Soaked at 85 °C / 85% RH for 168 hours, then three reflowsPassed
C-SAM inspectionAcoustic scan for delaminationPassed
Accelerated thermal shock−65 °C to +150 °C, 250 cyclesPassed

750 parts each (3 lots × 2 strips × 125), zero failures, 0.4% LTPD at 95% confidence.

Step 2: reliability test vehicle (RTV)

Preconditioning85 °C / 85% RH for 168 hours
MountingInline SMT reflow onto 5 test boards of 576 parts (24 × 24)

Electrical testFlying probe, every part
FailuresZero
ResultLot defect rate below 0.104% (0.1% LTPD) at 95% confidence

failures. That bounds the lot defect rate below 0.1% LTPD at 95% confidence.

FIT and MTTF prediction

18.1 FIT at 3.3 V and 45 °C, an MTTF of about 6,300 years.

500 parts, 1,000 hours at 85 °C with 4 V on VIN and VOUT. Zero failures. JIS C5003, 60% confidence. Voltage exponent 6, temperature doubling every 8 °C. 1,834 FIT at the stress condition.

Calculated FIT and MTTF values are estimates, not guarantees. Report TSQA2407-TSNJ-MTTF, 8 July 2024.

Predicted FIT and MTTF at 25 °C by operating voltage
Operating voltage at 25 °CFIT (failures per 10⁹ h)MTTF (years)
0.5 V0.0000392.95 billion
1 V0.002546.2 million
2 V0.158721,110
3.3 V3.1935,735
4 V10.111,267
5 V38.62,954
6 V115.4989

The predicted failure rate rises steeply toward the 6 V maximum, so we recommend voltage derating for long-term reliability.
